Wine Tasting Friday March 12th: O᛫S Winery With Winemaker
Bill Owen
Music by Michael Powers

This Friday Fortunato's is proud to bring you Winemaker Bill Owen
from Washington's O S Winery.
O·S Winery partners Rob Sullivan and Bill Owen strive to create
irresistible, jaw-dropping wines. Securing fruit from the best
vineyards and working with growers on the details of viticulture
has always been the foundation of their endeavor. Their winemaking
ethic is centered on simplicity with one aim: Opulent, Voluptuous,
Concentrated Red Wines. Tonight we begin with a 2007 Riesling.
Grapes from the Champoux vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA
are used here to create a seductive bouquet of spring flowers &
wet stone matched with a crisp delicate mouth feel. A burst of
nectarine, lime & lemon custard flavors are enhanced by
mouthwatering acidity. The red blends from O S are highly rated.
The R3 is a 'right bank' Merlot based cuvee complimented by the
addition of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has been
rated 90 points by the Wine Advocate. BSV is the 'left bank', or
Cabernet Sauvignon based blend by O S. it is rated 91 points by
Robert Parker. The 2006 Red Wine is also a merlot based blend. It
has received a rating of 89 points in Wine Spectator. We have two
very special wines to finish with. The 2006 O S Petit Verdot shows
fantastic concentration and an almost magical balance of rich
fruit, perfect acidity and incredibly silky tannins. The 2004
Ulysses has aromas of jammy black fruit, allspice and anise. The
lush silky texture is framed with firm tannins and acidity that
balance the rich blackberry and ripe black plum fruit yielding a
subtly complex and nuanced wine.
Music by
Michael Powers

Once again,
we are pleased to bring you
Michael Powers.
If you are familiar with his music, then you already know what a
treat he is to see. If you have not taken the time to come hear
him play, you are missing out in a big way. Here is what The
Tacoma News Tribune has to say about his musicianship:
"Michael Powers has established himself among
a new breed of guitarists and composers who, with each album and
every performance, continually redefines the guitars' role in the
jazz context. His technique is stunning, but he never employs it
at the expense of the musicality of the melodic line."
Michael's repertoire contains many songs that everyone is sure to
enjoy. His first set begins at 7:00PM
