Wine Tasting Friday February 5th: Tertulia Cellars and Fort
Walla Walla Cellars Musical Guests: Todo Es

Our Friday night tasting this week features two of Walla Walla's
finest boutique wineries:
Tertulia Cellars
and Fort
Walla Walla Cellars. Please join us and guest Dominic Calandri
for this great tasting featuring many wines rated at 90 points and
higher.. To begin, we start with Tertulia's 2008 Viognier.
At first, minerality is present, transitioning into delicate
floral notes of lavender and fruit aromatics of green apple and
fresh pineapple. On the palate integrated acids give way to
a nice viscous mouth feel. Next, we have the brand new vintage of
their Rosé du Mourvèdre. This wine has aromas of crème brulée,
strawberry rhubarb, and ruby red grapefruit juice. Nice bright
acidity transforms into a creamy mouth feel on the finish. To the
reds we go, beginning with Tertulia's proprietary blend Sobra.
Consisting of 62% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 15% Malbec, 7% Petit Verdot, Sobra was a
Gold medal winner at both the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine
Competition
and 2009 Portland Northwest Food & Wine Festival. Tertulia's Syrah
has aromatics of blueberry preserves and blackberries, followed by
scents of violets, rosemary and sage. The nose finishes with
smoked game. On the pallet, balanced acidity gives way to velvety
tannins and a smooth finish. The two offerings from Fort Walla
Walla Cellars are both rated 90 points by Wine Spectator. The 2006
Merlot has raspberry and guava fruit, with plenty of crisp
tannins. Everything is well-integrated and nicely framed on the
lively finish The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is supple and focused,
with a crisp feel to the savory plum and currant fruit, lingering
nicely on the deftly balanced finish. The tannins are nicely
polished.
Music by Todo Es

This Friday's entertainment will be provided by Todo Es. If
you were here for our Grand Opening Extravaganza, you will
surely remember the great mood they create with their tasty
Latin Jazz repertoire. Todo Es features Ken Curtiss on guitar,
John Lilley on acoustic bass and Stephen Yamada-Heidner on
percussion, steel drum and vibraphone. Their music embodies
the classic Latin Jazz sounds of Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd and
Cal Tjader. Todo Es will begin their first set at 7:00PM.
